Upper Black Eddy – UBE for short – is a special place in a special county in Pennsylvania.
Bucks county is to the surrounding counties what Greenwich Village is to Manhatten.
There are a number notable residents living in Bucks and in the Upper Black Eddy area – writers, artists and even a retired baseball celebrity – Bill White. Most are incognito – like it or not it’s a very quiet sedate area – some call it the dead zone which I agree with due to the fact I can’t get my New York teams nor even Philly teams on TV without subscribing to a total sports package from MLB or NBA or NFL which can get quite expensive.
Flying saucers have been seen in UBE and there are infrequent earthquakes or more accurately put slight tremors. Weekenders enjoy their favorite B&B and a walk on the 60 mile long Delaware canal path – and bikers as well as bicyclists are bountiful along River Road.
Quaint little towns lie across the narrow bridges joined to the New Jersey side of the river. Deer are plentiful and a hazard at night.
Local produce is often sold at stands and found in local grocery shops. There’s a bus that leaves Frenchtown for Manhatten daily – and it returns as well! All in all it’s a good life – stress free, beautiful and serene. If you like nature – it doesn’t get much better.
