as time will tell within a field
beyond the stone
that fences yield
in darkness when the wind is still -
the murmering of
a distant brook
invites the moon to stop n look
for steps that reach to touch the hill
upon the glen it overlooks
and there they lie - in shadows blanket
those that time has overtook
among the stones one beckons me

Ladybugs

this is a short story
one warm day in October,
twas in the Sun's glory
there were Ladies all over.
Red, orange and black
spotted dots on their backs,
in my garden they swarmed,
on head, shirt, and both arms!
Brushed off and alarmed
then amused I stepped back
and watched as they flew
up and down and across
there were more than a few!
For as winter approached
one last chance for a fling
was to dance altogether
and do their own thing!

within a quiet bush there lies a stem
and even further still therein
lies another n many others... then
there are no more
yet here's a leaf
and I will implore you
look even further
'til you discover
upon the stems rest several others
then step away
for with a hush alights from sky
upon the bush in silent flutter
a sparkling jewel delights the eye
sunlit wings in autumn red
orange n yellow
with sunlit colors a butterflys
above my head flit even more
much larger wings a handsome fellow
an eagle slowly in quite soars
while beyond the bird above so regale
a cool breeze whistles n sings
yond distant bell in silence rings
it matters little for most,
but for me,
I can only hear what I feel and see
but even more for life is kind
no need for sorrow in my plight
much more than wonderful
within my mind
the silent secrets kept
in sheer delight
and treasures that will unfold
within a quiet bush there lies a stem
more stories that shall go untold
for even deeper still, within
lies another n many, many others,
then,
I am no more

It's been a while since I've used flock.

We've found out it's a good idea to have some water put aside hereabouts - and not for drinking!

I was down in the basement on my computer when I heard a loud noise and felt a vibration - as if someone upstairs who was VERY HEAVY fell down - my wife Jo is tiny & light & her mom is even lighter -

we surmised that it was a huge tractor trailer passing by on River Road that hit a bump -

a little while later Jo overheard people speaking about the “earthquake” at Banknorth in Milford - apparently there was one a few years ago and then 20 years before that -

So we can add that to the floods we’ve heard about since we moved here - 3 in total over the past decade - and the last causing a lot of problems along route 32/River Road which is where we now reside!

Add to that recent reports of unidentified flying objects in Bucks county with 9 sitings in Upper Black Eddy and we suddenly find ourselves in a very interesting if not potentially terrifying place to live!
